What are Accessory Dwelling Units?Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are residential units subordinate in area to the primary residence on a property. Currently the Village is contemplating Zoning Code amendments to determine whether or not ADUs should be allowed in Northbrook Single Family Residential Districts.

The meeting can be attended in-person at Village Hall and viewed live online here or NCTV Channel 17 (AT&T U-verse customers tune to Channel 99 and search "Northbrook").

During the July 20 public hearing, the Plan Commission will be presented with a summary on ADUs, as well as the current regulations in Northbrook that prohibit ADUs. The meeting will also allow members of the public to provide comment on the subject. If members of the public would like to share comments but cannot attend, comments may be emailed to Michaela Kohlstedt, Director of Development & Planning Services, at michaela.kohlstedt@northbrook.il.us.
