This Was The Most Expensive Home Sold In Northbrook In 2019

More than $280 million was spent on homes in Northbrook during 2019, according to data from local realtors.

NORTHBROOK, IL — More than 440 homes worth nearly $280 million were sold in Northbrook during 2019, as the median sales price increased by about 1 percent compared to a year earlier.

According to data provided by the North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors, the median sales price rose to $575,000 last year, capping a decade that saw the median price of a home in the village rise by about 15 percent.

Northbrook's most expensive home sale of the year was the purchase of a newly built 7,800-square-foot, two-story stone new construction home sold for $2.38 million in August.

The home includes six bedrooms, a curved dual staircase, a fully finished basement with a sauna, eight-seat theater room, wine cellar, wet bar and fireplace, according to its listing.

The Cook County assessor's office estimates the home's current market value to be $1.43 million, and the home's annual property tax was more than $25,000 last year, according to county records.

The village's priciest sale of 2019 closed for a nearly identical price than the previous year's most expensive house — a 10,300-square-foot, seven-bedroom new construction on Sunset Lane that sold for $2,382,500 in May 2018.

Median home sales in Northbrook have been mostly rising since 2011, when just 310 homes were sold with a median price of less than $450,00, according to data provided by the North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors. That's 132 fewer homes sold with for median sales prices nearly 30 percent lower compared to 2019.

In December 2019, the median list price of homes for sale in Northbrook was $515,000, about 4 percent lower than a year earlier, according to data from Realtor.com, which considers Northbrook to be a buyer's market.
