Water Sample Scammers Claim To Be From Village: Blotter
A pair of men attempted to enter a residence claiming to work for the Village: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
- Benjamin R. Stiller, 41, of the 600 block of Vernon Avenue, Glencoe, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, disregarding traffic control, failure to carry a driver's license, and was arrested at 2:37 a.m. May 22 at Skokie Boulevard and Henrici Drive. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of June 17 in Skokie.
- Matthew P. Wiggemansen, 30, of the 3800 block of Mission Hills Road, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, expired registration, and was arrested at 8:45 p.m. May 23 following a traffic crash investigation at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of June 17 in Skokie.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A person reported at 10:16 a.m. May 22 that someone broke the rear window of their parked vehicle with an unknown object in the 1000 block of Blackthorn Lane.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT
A manager of a business in the 1300 block of Willow Road called police at 11:30 p.m. May 22 to report that when employees arrived for work they saw that a sliding glass window was open. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
An officer on a routine patrol at 11:42 a.m. May 25 found what appeared to be new graffiti on several utility boxes in the 1300 block of Greenbriar Lane.
THEFT
A resident in the 3000 block of Pheasant Creek Drive reported at 11:49 a.m. May 25 that a package was delivered for them and when they returned home to retrieve the package, someone had already taken the package without permission.
SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTS
A resident in the 2500 block of Salceda Drive called police at 2:30 p.m. May 25 to report two males, claiming to be contractors hired by the village, requested entry to their residence to take water samples. The complainant recognized this as a possible scam and immediately called police. The subjects left in an unknown direction without being allowed entry to the residence.
