Woman Caught Stealing Beauty Products, Cookies From Store

Store employees saw the woman hide the items in her bag.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

RETAIL THEFT

Sonya D. Gopani, 31, of Winnetka, was arrested on a charge of retail theft at 3:41 p.m. Sept. 24 in the 800 block of Willow Road. The defendant was observed by store employees hiding beauty products, lotion, green clay powder, and a bag of granola and quinoa cookies in her bag. The defendant then purchased a bottle of water and was confronted by store employees as she left the store without paying for the merchandise in her bag. Officers issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

An IBM laptop, phone charger, notebook, pencil and other work-related items were stolen between 7:15 and 8 p.m. Sept. 24, from a vehicle in the 4000 block of Lake Cook Road. Reports state the passenger side window of the vehicle was broken to gain entrance.

DRUG POSSESSION

Daniel J. Gawron, 18, of Prospect Heights, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:23 p.m. Sept. 25 in the 3000 block of Dundee Road. An officer observed the defendant’s vehicle driving eastbound on Dundee Road at what appeared to be a high rate of speed and commit multiple lane violations. The officers stopped the vehicle and after speaking to the driver he admitted to having paraphernalia in his vehicle. Officers located a glass bong, wooden pipe, two small scales and torches. The defendant was issued a local ordinance citation for the drug paraphernalia and warning citations for the driving violations and released at the scene.
