Angels With Tails Adoption Event To Be Held In Roscoe Village

CHICAGO — The 7th Annual Angels with Tails Adoption Event will be held in Roscoe Village Oct. 14. Hosted by PAWS Chicago, the event will showcase shelter animals in need of a loving home. The organization teamed up with seven other local shelters and rescue groups to bring the faces of the city's homeless animals to 31 stores and sidewalks along Roscoe Street.

PAWS Chicago launched its inaugural Angels with Tails adoption event in 1998 to help end the euthanasia "epidemic" in the city, the organization said.
The event's goals are "to both save lives through adoption and raise awareness around the issue of pet overpopulation and the needless killing of homeless animals," event organizers said in a statement.

In 2017, over 5,000 cats and dogs were killed in the city, PAWS said. By promoting adoption, fostering and spay/neuter, the organization is working to build a "no kill community" where all healthy and treatable pets are given a second chance to find a loving home, the group said.

"PAWS can take in and save more dogs and cats from high-risk shelters by rallying the community and generating more adoptions," event organizers stated. "When you adopt a pet from a No Kill animal shelter or rescue organization, you are saving two lives — the pet you adopt and another pet who can take his place."
