CHICAGO — Police are warning residents in the 19th District to be vigilant after burglaries were reported in the North Center neighborhood. Police said one or two burglars posed as utility workers to gain access to people's homes.

In each burglary, the offender was able to get inside the home and distract the resident, police said. The burglar would then rummage through the bedroom, stealing money and jewelry.

In one report, a burglar pushed past a 94-year-old woman, police said.
