CHICAGO — An off-duty police officer is in critical condition after a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway Sunday night, police said. The officer lost control of his vehicle just before midnight and crashed into a concrete barrier. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Illinois State Police said.
Three lanes of traffic were blocked off while investigators were on scene. They reopened Monday morning. Blue Line CTA service was also temporarily suspended in the area for several hours.
The officer was 32 years old and had been with the Chicago Police Department for two years, ABC 7 reported.
