Former Pub Owner Kept Taxes Withheld From Paychecks: Report
A former owner of a popular soccer bar in North Center has been indicted on federal income tax charges, according to a report.

CHICAGO, IL — The former owner of the popular Globe Pub in North Center has been indicted on federal income tax charges, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune. The Internal Revenue Service claims that Stuart Johnson failed to turn over nearly $200,000 that his pub withheld from employees' paychecks from 2012 to 2014, according to the report. Johnson, the founder of the soccer pub in the 1900 block of West Irving Park Road, sold his interest in the bar in 2016.
The IRS said Johnston pocketed the money that was withheld from employees' paychecks, which included individual income taxes, Social Security and Medicare taxes, according to the Tribune.
The IRS claimed that Johnston also failed to file a tax return for the pub or a personal income tax return, the Tribune reported.
