Frozen Chicago: The Windy City on Ice is Remarkable When Seen from the Air

Thanks to Colin Hinkle, you can see its beauty in a stunning YouTube video.

The recent weeks of bone-chilling cold may have left us cursing Chicago winters (after all, it was colder than Mars for a while), but it’s worth remembering that winter can be beautiful in Chicago, too. And not just because you look adorable in your knit caps and scarves when you’re cold.

Last Sunday, Colin Hinkle released a video depicting the icy beauty of the Windy City, recorded with a GoPro camera and the help of a DJI Phantom 2 drone.

“Shot during the winter of January 2015 around Chicago over the course of 2 weeks. All shot in temperatures below 10 degrees,” Hinkle wrote in his YouTube description. “Enjoy the beauty of a frigid Chicago from your warmth of your living room.”
