‘Give Back’ Performing at Montrose Green Wednesday

It's a part of the Montrose Green's annual "Music in the Park" event, and first up comes the emerging indie band Give Back. Give them a listen here.

With sunny weather forecasted in the mid-70s Wednesday, it’s the perfect day to swing over to Montrose Green, relax and listen to live music in the garden.

Organized by the Northcenter Neighborhood Association, Music in the Garden brings local talent to the area’s community garden at 1819 W. Montrose Ave. Residents can sit amongst the nearly 140 garden plots, relax and listen to live music.

First on the list of musicians is indie-rock group Give Back, a group NNA says is up and coming in Chicago’s music scene. Made up of recent high school grads, the group is set to perform on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“Give Back is quickly emerging on the front line of Chicago's formidable neo indie-rock scene,” NNA writes on its website. “The band, just graduating from high school last summer, has been making music together since middle school. Since the band's inception, Give Back has played over a hundred live shows all around Chicago and the suburbs.”

Give Back will be followed by vocalists Steve Frisbie and Liam Davis on July 17, also starting at 6:30 p.m.

Rounding up the music series is Dan Strba and his wife Marcia Sterling on August 21. Strba is a violinist of the Houston Symphony, and Sterling is both a vocalist and violinist of The Best Little Klezmer Band in Texas.

Both are veterans of Music in the Garden after performing last year, with their credits including the Chicago Symphony, the Frank Sinatra Orchestra and the U.S. Army Chamber Orchestra used for White House State functions.
