Man Tried To Lure Boy In North Center: Police

The attempted luring happened near Western and Berteau on the North Side, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued an alert warning of an attempted child luring on the North Side. The incident happened in the 4200 block of North Western Avenue in North Center on Friday night, police said.

Around 10:18 p.m., a 13-year-old boy was walking north on Western, when a man sitting in a parked vehicle motioned for the boy to come to the vehicle, according to police. The boy ran home, and his father called 911, police said.

The suspect was sitting in a black 4-door sedan, parked on the west side of the street facing south, police said. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, according to police. He was wearing a white and red baseball cap with a flat bill.
