Man Tries To Lure Girl, 11, Into Van In Irving Park

The girl was walking home from school, when the man tried to get her to come into his vehicle, police said.

CHICAGO — Police are searching for a suspect who tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his van on Thursday. The incident occurred in the 3800 block of North Drake Avenue around 3:15 p.m., police said in a community alert.

The girl was walking home from school on the east side of the street, when the man lowered his passenger-side window and signaled for her to come inside, police said. The girl didn't engage in conversation and ran to safety, according to the alert.

The man took off north in the van and turned west onto Elston Avenue, police said.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s or 40s with no facial hair. The man was driving a white van that had yellow circular splatter markings on the passenger side, according to the alert.
