Massive Soccer Facility Plans Northcenter Location
The Chicago Soccer Center would be one of the largest in the Chicagoland area with eight configurable fields indoors and outdoors.
Northcenter could soon be home to the city’s largest all-weather soccer facility. The Chicago Soccer Center aims to be the “recognized gathering place” for soccer enthusiasts, according to proposal documents.
The $8 to $10 million soccer facility is slated for 3700 N. Talman Ave., just across from Lane Tech High School along the Chicago River.
Pending City Council approval, the Chicago Soccer Center will open August. And with the development comes more than 20 jobs.

Representatives of Chicago Near North Soccer, LLC, submitted a rezoning request to Ward 47 Ald. Ameya Pawar in January. Pawar said he supports the project as one more reason for families stay in the city, rather than moving to the suburbs.
“I get calls from parents saying they spend so much time in the suburbs because they have the right training facilities,” he said. “It’s about keeping families in the area.”

Chicago Soccer Center will be the largest year-round youth and adult soccer center in the city at 100,000 square feet of playing surface, according to zoning documents.
Up to eight indoor and outdoor fields are in the proposed designs, with an inflatable bubble dome for cold weather play. The fields, made of FieldTurf, can also be rented for lacrosse, football and field hockey.
Along with adult and youth soccer leagues, the center will also host the FC Drive soccer club, Player’s Sport and Social Group leagues and the Chicago Fire.
A concession stand and outdoor patio overlooking the Chicago River are also planned for the facility.
