New Apartments Adding to Western Avenue Resurgence
The almost half a million dollar development joins countless others brewing down the busy corridor.

Adding to a seemingly endless list of new development happening on Western Avenue, a new apartment building is cropping up in a vacant lot just north of Irving Park Road.
The City of Chicago approved a permit for new construction on Friday calling for an almost $500,000 investment at 4113 N. Western Ave. The project is nestled between two other homes.
According to the permit, developer Azeem Kahn is planning to build an apartment building with four units, a basement and an attached garage with room for two cars.
The building will be just one block south of where a 2,000-square-foot former Laundromat on Western was leveled to make room for construction.
In addition, the new owners of a vacant lot near Western and Waveland avenues want to build a drive-thru Starbucks and Potbelly Sandwich Company where a car wash previously stood.
Situated at 3636 N. Western Ave., the former unsightly car wash was demolished in June after getting the green light by Chicago officials in late May. The project has been on the fast track since the developer by the name of Bobb, LLC., purchased the lot for more than $1 million early in May, records show.
Some speculate developers are flocking to Western and Ashland Avenues because of the recent bus rapid transit proposal.
