New Concept Veg Head Makes Healthy Eating Easy

The North Center business is hoping to replace neighborhood eating habits by offering up fruits and veggies easier than ever.

Looking to cut out junk food? Eat more greens? Replace that bag of chips with a bag of fruits and vegetables? North Center’s new concept Veg Head is now here to help.

The restaurant venture by owner Lynn Kardasz recently opened its doors for the first time at 4046 N. Lincoln Ave., replacing the former UPS Store. And for Kardasz, Veg Head is a labor of love that sprouted from an awful incident.

“In 1992, I was preparing for a natural body building contest and was involved in a near fatal accident,” Kardasz writes on her website. “I have since had eleven major surgeries. I use food to train for and heal from surgery and more importantly to maintain my health. I try to make smart choices and live by some very simple rules.”

Those rules include eating as much fruits and veggies as she wants, as well as straying completely from foods packaged in a can or box. That’s why Kardasz is making healthy options easy for residents on the go.

Veg Head is hoping to be the alternative to a Jewel Osco or Dominick’s by offering up locally-sourced snacks, and even peeling and slicing up selections to create a customized snack, DNAinfo Chicago reports.

“I invite you to experience the natural awesomeness that is Veg Head,” Kardasz writes. “I promise to bring you the freshest produce, the most delicious salads, smoothies and parfaits!”

Veg Head is now open on Lincoln Avenue.
