Police Warn Of North Center, Lake View Car Thefts

Thieves are often targeting Honda vehicles on the North Side, police warned.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have issued a community alert warning North Side residents of car thefts in the Lake View, Uptown and North Center neighborhoods. In each theft, vehicles were taken while they were legally parked on the street, police said.

A common target for offenders is Honda vehicles that are either gray or white, police warned.

Police said the vehicle thefts happened in the following locations:

  • 3400 block of N. Rockwell St. on July 23 at around 8:30 p.m.
  • 1300 block of W. Lawrence Ave. on July 24 at around 9 p.m.
  • 600 block of W. Buckingham Pl. on July 27 at around 5 p.m.
  • 4600 block of N. Clarendon Ave. on July 28 at around 7 p.m.
  • 2100 block of W. Addison St. on Aug. 2 at around 9 p.m.
  • 400 block of W. St. James Pl. on Aug. 2 at around 10:15 p.m.
  • 4200 block of N. Sheridan Rd. on Aug. 16 at around 5:30 p.m.
