'Rock it Like a Redhead' Tour Hits Chicago This Week

Nationwide tour showcasing beauty products for female redheads comes to Chicago's West Side on Thursday.

A business that specializes in beauty and fashion products specifically for redheads will be in Chicago this week as part of a 5-city nationwide tour promoting their women-focused business and the upcoming release of a book titled ‘How to be a Redhead.’

How to be a Redhead is also the name of the business, which was started by Stephanie Vendetti and her sister, Adrienne in New York City back in 2011.

Adrienne describes how the ‘How to be a Redhead’ business came to be.

“Growing up, we loved beauty products, but finding the right items for our sensitive skin and hair was a nightmare,” she said. “It took us buying hundreds of ‘redhead friendly’ items to get it right. One day in high school, we looked at each other and said, ‘We know how to be a redhead.’ The name stuck. We always joked that we would come out with a book titled ‘How to be a Redhead,’ because websites weren’t as popular as they are now.”

That book is expected to hit bookstores by the end of 2016.

“We’ve tapped into a niche market that everyone, including the beauty industry has forgotten about,” added Stephanie. “Redheads need specific beauty and fashion advice, and we’re proud to say we’re the only brand for redheads filling this market.”

The nationwide tour, called ‘Rock it Like a Redhead’ has already hit some cities, and will make its Chicago appearance on Thursday, September 10 from 7-10 p.m. at Ovation Chicago, 2324 W. Fulton St. before concluding in New York. In Chicago, there will be beauty and fashion experts who will educate the attendees on how to overcome beauty obstacles and perform the ‘how to’s’ of which the business was based.

“Our goal is to have Chicago/Midwest attendees leave the event and know which local brands/experts they can turn to to beautify them in everyday life,” said Stephanie. “Redheads are traveling from all corners of the country to attend.”

Stephanie and Adrienne expect Thursday to be “an evening of true empowerment.”

“The goal is that every redhead leaves the event feeling the most beautiful they’ve ever felt,” Stephanie said. “The event will be broken down into beauty and fashion. Our sponsors include ACME Hotel Chicago— their slogan is ‘Do Your Thing’ — our event promotes individuality and so we wanted to partner with brands who do the same.”

Live music performances will be from Shanye Leighton and Aleem. There will also be four fashion shows, including one from the How to be a Redhead apparel line.

Beauty sponsors are, Kroylan, BioElements Professional Skin Care, Ten Friends Blow Dry and Style House and Notable Nails — all local Chicago brands.

“Out of all the cities in the Midwest, we have the biggest following in Chicago,” said Stephanie. “In fact, out of our entire worldwide audience, 40% of readers are from Chicago. It’s pretty amazing.”

So if you see quite a bit of red on Chicago’s West Side on Thursday, that won’t be due to Blackhawks or Bulls fever. It will be a swarm of rockin’ redheads.
