Shared Sidewalk Program To Begin In Chicago
The popular program is first-come, first-served, the city said, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.

CHICAGO — The Shared Cost Sidewalk Program is set to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The program allows property owners to share the cost of sidewalk repair with the city.
Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as the program typically reaches capacity quickly, the city said.
The cost per square foot charged to property owners is well below what a private contractor would charge, the 46th Ward office said in a newsletter to residents.

Applicants can call the city's 311 system or apply online. Senior citizens and people with disabilities may qualify for a further discounted rate.
If you applied for the program in previous years, you must apply again in 2019. The property owner’s contact information and the property address are required at the time of request.
