Lakeview Pantry Launches Spread The Love Food Drive
Chicago residents are asked to donate unopened jars of peanut butter and jelly to families in need this February.

CHICAGO — The Lakeview Pantry is holding its annual 'Spread the Love' food drive to help those in need. The drive was launched to encourage more people to donate jars of peanut butter and jelly. The pantry said peanut butter is an expensive item to purchase, and it is always in high demand.
"Community members are very generous to Lakeview Pantry during the holiday season, with many food drives held in November and December," Ald. James Cappleman said in a letter to residents. "But the pantry typically sees a large drop-off in food drives through the spring, even though the need remains high."
Residents are asked to drop off donations of unopened jars of peanut butter and jelly at the 46th Ward office in February. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday (the office will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Monday, Feb. 18, in observance of holidays.)
