Transistor Still Moving to Lake View Despite Crowdfunding Flop

The gift and novelty record shop is picking up and moving once more, this time to East Lake View, even through their funding campaign didn't go exactly as expected.

The bookstore, art gallery and record store hybrid Transistor is officially moving from Northcenter to Lake View despite a crowdfunding campaign that generated fewer dollars than anticipated

Sitting at 3819 N. Lincoln Ave, the local business recently moved to the neighborhood from Andersonville. But owner Andy Miles says it may have been a mistake, citing the storefront’s location as a cause to almost go out of business.

The crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com calls out to residents in hopes of raising the money Miles needs to move through donations.

A status on the store’s Facebook page posted Sunday reads owners are still looking to reach the $6,500 donation goal, but the move to 3441 N. Broadway is official. The store has raised $1,500 thus far from 26 funders.

“With 36 days remaining on our crowd-funding campaign, donations have pretty much come to a halt, following an encouraging start,” the business wrote Sunday. “We need your support. If you can spare a few bucks, please visit our campaign page.”

Miles hopes the high-trafficked location in East Lake View—formerly home to Chic Antique—will be enough to revive his business after a lull in business in Northcenter.

The store on Lincoln Avenue closed on Sunday to prepare for the move. They plan to reopen on Broadway Friday.

There is still about a month left before the deadline to donate expires.
