If there is one thing that both vegans and comedians crave, it’s attention. So, it makes sense to bring those two worlds together with the House of Ha!

The monthly stand-up comedy showcase, launched this summer, brings more live entertainment to The Chicago House of ‘Za, the Chicago’s first all-vegan pizzeria, located in the North Center neighborhood of the city known world over as the centers for pizza and comedy.

The family-owned—and family-friendly—Chicago House of ‘Za specializes in gourmet vegan pizza and other Italian offerings, made from scratch with 100% plant-based organic ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible. The dishes, created by owners Jammie and Danny Gulino, including their flagship pizza, are as close to the “real deal” as it comes and will satisfy the appetites of vegans and non-vegans alike. Diners can also enjoy 'Za’s variety of craft beers and wine.

Local comedian, Laura Hugg was introduced to The Chicago House of ‘Za when the owners began entertaining the idea of hosting live comedy shows in their restaurant. Hugg, a vegan herself, became the perfect partner to produce the shows.

Hugg drew from the wealth of diverse Chicago comedic talent for the first lineup and produced and hosted the inaugural showcase in July with comedians Larry Bloom, Whitney Wasson and Marcus Banks. She hosted and co-produced along with Funnier By The Lake Comedy the second edition in August with a lineup including Ricky March, Adrienne Brandyburg and Adam Bowman.
