CHICAGO, IL — A violent bank robber has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to the Department of Justice. Jon Giles, 39, was described by a prosecutor as a "manipulative, violent, career criminal."

Giles robbed the North Community Bank in Lincoln Park on March 20, 2009, according to a release from the Department of Justice. He entered the bank, pointed a loaded gun at a female employee sitting at a desk.

She later recalled thinking she'd never see her kids again, according to the DOJ.
