Armed Carjacking Suspect In Custody In Oak Brook: Cops
Police have arrested a man accused of carjacking a woman at gunpoint at Oak Brook Center.

OAK BROOK , IL — Police have arrested a man who allegedly stole a 68-year-old woman's car at gunpoint at Oak Brook Center early Wednesday. Darnell Anderson, 26, has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking with a gun and armed robbery.
Police say the victim was sitting inside her car before going to work at Oak Brook Center when a car pulled up and blocked her into the parking spot. A man then got out of the other car and approached the victim, demanding that she get out of her car, according to police.
The woman got out and the suspect got into the car, police say. The victim grabbed her purse out of the back of the car, but the suspect chased her and took the purse "by force" before getting into her car and fleeing, according to police.

"The very idea that someone would rob an innocent woman of her car and purse at a popular, well-traveled shopping mall is outrageous," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
Anderson is currently being held at DuPage County Jail on $1 million bond. If convicted, he faces up to 45 years in prison.
