Curbside E-Waste Collection Now Available In Woodridge

Residents can now recycle their electronics items more easily.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge residents now have an easier way to get rid of their old electronics items. Groot Industries recently began an e-waste service that offers curbside pickup of electronic items as long as the item is labeled with stickers and advance notification has been scheduled, according to a news release from village officials.

The new service gives residents an alternative to hauling their old TVs, computers, and other electronics to the occasional electronics recycling drive. In 2013, it became prohibited to dump such items in landfills.

The stickers required for electronic items are as follows:

  • TV monitors up to 50 pounds: 15 stickers
  • E-waste paper bag size: 5 stickers

Larger TVs require a special pickup. The following e-waste items can be collected curbside:

  • Radios
  • Smaller TVs
  • Computers
  • Monitors
  • Small home appliances
  • Printers

Residents can take advantage of Groot's e-waste collection service by calling Groot 48 hours in advance at 888-485-0900 to schedule a pickup.
