OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL — Drury Lane Theatre has issued a public apology and removed a noose image from its publicity materials for the upcoming play "And Then There Were None" after fielding several complaints in recent days. In a statement posted on its Facebook page Wednesday, theater officials said they "acknowledged the insensitivity of our recent noose imagery" and apologized "for failing to recognize the harm that such a symbol causes."

And Then There Were None is based on the popular Agatha Christie novel and will hit the stage starting July 12.

Meanwhile, Drury Lane is working to remove the image from all of its promotional materials, according to the Facebook post. Theater officials said they recognized their "larger need for improvement but believe it is important to address this issue immediately."
