Watch Good Samaritans Help Driver On I-88 After Truck Overturns

VIDEO: The truck reportedly overturned due to a tire blowout.

OAK BROOK, IL — A pickup truck driver was rescued by a group of good Samaritans Monday morning on I-88 in Oak Brook after his truck flipped over due to a tire blowout, according to WLS. The Ford Ranger pickup truck flipped just after 6:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Reagan Memorial Tollway near the York Road exit, according to the news report. Several good Samaritans, including construction workers, got out of their cars and flipped the truck back, WLS said.

Tom Meyers, a firefighter on his way to work in Aurora Township from his other job in Rosemont, joined the group and used construction workers' tools to break the truck's windshield and remove the driver's seat belt.

The driver was thankful for everyone that helped him, according to Meyers, and was taken to a local hospital by Oak Brook first responders.
