K-9 Officer Gets Grand Sendoff For Retirement From Lombard PD

LOMBARD, IL — Retirement can be bittersweet after a long career because the question often lingers: what am I going to do with all this free time? For one recent retiree from the Lombard Police Department, the answer probably involves long, relaxing walks and lots of dog treats.
K-9 Officer Chico, who served 8 illustrious years as a member of the police force, capped off his career with cake, dog food confetti, and a room full of adoring coworkers and fans.
Chico's adulation was wall undoubtedly well-deserved. He's helped his colleagues find more than $4 million in narcotics and over $1.5 million in cash and stolen items, according to a post from the Village of Lombard.

Some of Chico's career highlights include recovering more than a dozen firearms, helping in hundreds of motor vehicle searches, and lending a paw with 45 armed robbery investigations.
Chico plans to spend his retirement enjoying the good life with his handler, Officer Greg Sohr. Congratulations to Chico on a career that's sure to inspire many other K-9s to join the force.
