Lord & Taylor To Close Oakbrook Center Store
The store plans to close once its lease is up in January 2019.

OAK BROOK, IL — One of Oakbrook Center's longtime anchor stores plans to close its doors in 2019. High-end retailer Lord & Taylor announced that it will leave Oakbrook Center once its current lease is up in January of next year.
This marks the second Lord & Taylor store in Illinois to plan an upcoming closure. In December, the company announced that it would shutter its store in Skokie's Old Orchard mall, which will result in more than 100 employee layoffs.

The decision to close both stores was made by parent company Hudson's Bay Co. (HBC) after an evaluation of each location's overall performance. In a statement, HBC acknowledged that the decision to close any of its stores is "prudent," but that it is "never easy."
In addition to Lord & Taylor, HBC also runs Saks Fifth Avenue and Gilt.
