McDonald's Upends Golden Arches For Women's Day; Critics Flip
Critics labeled the move "McFeminism" and charged the company with hypocrisy after ongoing wage battles.

OAK BROOK, IL — If you've got a craving for a cheeseburger on International Women's Day and you're looking for the iconic McDonald's golden arches, you might have a hard time recognizing them. McDonald's has flipped its golden arches on several female-owned restaurants, turning the "M" to a "W" in support of what critics are calling (wait for it...) "McFeminism."
The arch will be flipped on bags, cups, fry boxes, and shirts "[i]n celebration of women everywhere."
In a news release, McDonald's recognized its female restaurant owners and noted that "6 out of 10 restaurant managers are women."

McDonald's added that "This is the first time McDonald’s has ever flipped its iconic logo and we’re proud to recognize our female employees, franchisees, suppliers, community partners and customers for all that they do today, and every day."
Twitter users weren't buying it. Many critics slammed the move as a "symbolic gesture," citing the ongoing demand for fair wages for workers.
