Oak Brook Among America's Richest Places

OAK BROOK, IL — Bloomberg recently rounded up the top 100 richest communities in the United States and Oak Brook made the list. Their selection of America’s 100 Richest Places was dominated by larger cities on the East and West Coasts, but included 10 towns in Illinois, with Oak Brook coming in at #64 out of an analysis of more than 6,000 towns.

The towns — all with populations of 2,000 or more — were ranked by average 2015 household income adjusted for inflation. Oak Brook’s annual household income of $222,138 ranked the town above other affluent locales that included Beverly Hills, California, and Lexington, Massachussetts.

Oak Brook’s spot on the list of America’s 100 Richest Places stands out among a surplus of cities located near Silicon Valley and Midtown Manhattan, giving Oak Brook residents some bragging rights. Which town topped the list? Atherton California.
