Oak Brook Fire Dept. earns hospital's EMS "Run of the Month"
Nicholas Babcock, Michael Erickson, Kyle Matousek and Glen Washington were honored for their care of a man who went into cardiac arrest.

Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has awarded its “Run of the Month” for Oct. 2018 to the Oak Brook Fire Dept.
Crew members Nicholas Babcock, Michael Erickson, Kyle Matousek and Glen Washington were recognized for their care on Oct. 28 of an 80-year-old man who was complaining of chest pain and then went into cardiac arrest. The crew immediately began resuscitation efforts. The patient regained consciousness and was able to talk while being transported to Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED). The patient was later treated in Elmhurst Hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab where a stent was inserted to treat a blocked coronary artery. He was discharged from the hospital three days later.
In the “Run of the Month” program, Elmhurst Hospital’s EMS Team reviews ambulance runs by pre-hospital providers and selects one to be recognized based on the following criteria:
