Oak Brook Offers Holiday Lights Recycling

The Oak Brook Library will accept lights to recycle through Jan. 11.

OAK BROOK, IL --- If you've wound up with tangles of holiday lights that won't light up while you're decorating, you can easily recycle them in Oak Brook before and after the holidays. The Oak Brook Public Library has partnered with Elgin Recycling to collect and recycle holiday lights now through Jan. 11.

If you have any of the following lights, you can recycle them in the bin located in the library's staff parking lot, right across from the book drop-off box.

  • Mini lights
  • C7 lights
  • C9 lights
  • Rope lights
  • LED lights
  • Extension cords

Unfortunately such items as garland and live greens, including wreaths, cannot be accepted to be recycled.
