Oak Brook Polo Kicks Off Chicago Polo Open this Week

Championship Match Scheduled for Sunday at Prince of Wales Field

Oak Brook Polo Club kicks off the highly anticipated Chicago PoloOpenpresented by Heineken. Some of Chicago’s best polo players and teams will compete throughout the week, leading up to the championship match on Sunday, August 18that 3:00 p.m. at the Prince of Wales Field(2606 York Road) in Oak Brook.

The Chicago Polo Open was inaugurated in the 2016 as an exhibition match between Oak Brook and a local club. It has since grown into a tournament to become one of the biggest medium-goal competitions in the Midwest. The Openis one of five (5) Chicago Polo Association (Chicago Polo) 8-Goal League Tournaments being played from late June through August. The League is comprised of local and out-of-state teams, including Font Farm, G-Squared, Morgan Creek, Passion for Polo, St. Louis, Minneapolis, and others.

After a successful first year, the “Horses & Hops” beer festival will be taking place alongside the tournament’s championship match. This one-day event will feature some of the Midwest’s most popular and upcoming craft breweries such as 2 Fools Cider, Brickstone Brewery, Finch Beer Co. Noon Whistle, City Lights, Revolution Brewing, Strongbow andTangled Roots. A field side beer garden will be available for guests to sample and sip their way through an afternoon of competitive polo action.

2019 marks Oak Brook Polo Club's 97th season as one of the nation's oldest polo clubs in operation today and fourth oldest sports property in Chicago. Once considered the “polo capital” of the world Oak Brook was thedestination for American Polo players and enthusiasts.

A variety of ticket options are available for Sunday’s match: $12.00 per person for lawn seating; $60.00 - $75.00 per car for tailgating; $50.00 VIP (includes elevated field-site seating in Saddle Club and champagne during divot stomp); $108.00 Brunch (includes VIP and Saddle Club access); $350 Saddle Club Reserved Tables (seating for up to 8); $450 Players’ Lounge (seating for up to 8); $675.00 Private Field Side Tent (for up to 20).

Admission to “Horses & Hops” tasting and beer garden is $45.00 per person ($35.00 for designated driver) or $25.00 for match ticketholders who to upgrade to the beer tasting. For VIP access to both the Saddle Club and beer tasting is $75.00. All festival ticketholders must be 21 years of age and will receive a commemorative beer mug, lanyard, 14-sample punch card, Drake Oak Brook Hotel free parking shuttle service, and access to food trucks, polo match and merchandise areas.
