Oak Brook Polo Welcomes Newest Rival G-Squared

Pre-Match Festivities Include Inaugural "Horses & Harleys" Bike Rally

The Oak Brook Polo Club is excited to welcome newest but local rival polo team, G-Squared, to compete for the prestigious Drake Challenge Cupon Sunday, August 4that 3:00 p.m. at the Prince of Wales Field (2606 York Road). Presented by and named after The Drake Oak Brook Hotel, the Drake Challenge Cup’s historic trophy has been played for since 1964 by some of the most celebrated polo players in American history.

Prior to the match, Oak Brook Polo will host its inaugural “Horses & Harleys” bike rally, presented by Wildfire Harley Davidson. The on-field rally prior to the polo match will feature new, custom and vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles from HOG Chapter members throughout Illinois.

G-Squared Polo is led by patron/captain, Larry Aschebrook (Hcap 0) who leads a team of all-stars including Juan Martin Gutierrez (Hcap 2), Matias Obregon (Hcap 4) and Lindor Novillo Corvalan (Hcap 4). Oak Brook is led by team patron/captain Jim Drury (Hcap 0) and includes Horacio Onetto (Hcap 4), Tomas “Toto” Obregon (Hcap 4) and Mariano Gutierrez (Hcap 4).

Pre-match festivities begin at 1:00 p.m. with the “Horses & Harleys” on-field bike rally, presented by Wildfire Harley Davidson. During the match, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and contests including Better magazine’s “Best Hat Contest,” Heineken’s “Best Tailgate” and traditional Divot Stomp presented by J Vineyard & Winery. Members of both teams will be available for meet and greets and representatives from the Chicago polo community will be on site providing information about polo lessons.

Sunday’s match will benefit BraveHearts (www.braveheartsriding.com), a non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted services to children, adults and military veterans in need. Their award-winning therapeutic horse, Hank, will be making an appearance for guests to meet and take photos. BraveHearts representatives will raffle off prizes to spectators in an effort to raise donations for their many projects. Since 2007, BraveHearts has been serving veterans at no cost and has become the largest PATH (Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship) International Premier Accredited Center. They are a center of excellence through their unique efforts in programming, education and research.

2019 marks Oak Brook Polo Club's 97th season as one of the nation's oldest polo clubs in operation today and fourth oldest sports property in Chicago. Once considered the “polo capital” of the world Oak Brook was thedestination for American Polo players and enthusiasts.

A variety of ticket options are available: $12.00 per person for lawn seating; $60.00 - $75.00 per car for tailgating; $50.00 VIP (includes elevated field-site seating in Saddle Club and champagne during divot stomp); $108.00 Brunch (includes VIP and Saddle Club access); $350 Saddle Club Reserved Tables (seating for up to 8); $450 Players’ Lounge (seating for up to 8); $675.00 Private Field Side Tent (for up to 20); All ticket holders will have access to The Drake Oak Brook Hotel bars, and Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse pop-up restaurant.
