Student Charged For Snapchat Threat To Glenbard East: Cops

Cops say he took a snap with a gun and said, "1, 2, 3, all the kids will leave. They're not so cool because I'll shoot up the school."

LOMBARD, IL --- A Glenbard East student faces felony charges for allegedly sending classmates a Snapchat of himself holding a gun and making threats to the school. Police say the teen, who is accused of sending the Snap Monday, threatened, "1, 2, 3, all the kids will leave. They’re not so cool because I’ll shoot up the school."

Police reportedly took the teen into custody later that day. He is currently on home detention with his parents while he awaits his next court date.

In a statement, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin stressed how seriously school threats are taken. Berlin said, "As I have said many times in the past, students have got to learn that any threatening message directed at a school is not a joke. Any threat made against a school, whether made in jest or not, will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. Make no mistake, once we identify the source of any threat, charges will be filed accordingly."
