Acorn Public Library To Host Blood Drive May 20
Volunteers who make an appointment and who successfully donate will receive an Acorn Public Library face mask.
OAK FOREST, IL — Every two seconds someone in the United State needs blood or platelets, according to the American Red Cross.
To help meet the needs of the community, Versiti Blood Center of Illinois, formerly Heartland Blood Centers, will be in the Acorn Public Library parking lot accepting blood donations. The library is located at 15624 Central Ave. in Oak Forest.
Anyone interested in giving blood must do so by appointment only. Blood donations will be accepted from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.

According to organizers, every unit of blood will be collected from volunteer donors who meet specific criteria and have been screened according to strict guidelines.
Every unit is collected, transported, tested and stored according to tightly-controlled procedures.

All donations will also be screened for COVID-19 antibodies.
