Best Sledding Hills in Oak Forest

The snow is here early for Oak Forest and you need to know where the best hills are.

So the snow is here. Earlier than expected. The snow day that was called for a few days ago, called for the sledding season to start early.I know there are Oak Forest parents scrambling to get all the gloves and boots necessary to prepare the kiddos for the upcoming sledding season.

I want to share with all you parents, the best sledding hills, known and unknown.

  • Arroyo Park at 15500 Arroyo Drive (Victoria Drive & Arroyo Drive)

They have a snow hill which is great for the little ones as well as middle school kids. It is not huge, but big enough to get a good feel of flying down a hill.

  • Belly Button Hill, 150th St. & Kilbourne Ave, Midlothian

This is a huge neighborhood hangout with a big hill that has different sledding difficulty. One side is good for the little ones, one side is good for the adventurous. It is always busy and it has a cool feeling of neighborhood.

  • Swallow Cliff 11918 S. LaGrange Road, off Route 45, Palos Park, IL

Swallow Cliff had toboggan slides in the day. The toboggan slides are now non-functioning but there are still great hills that are just for sledding. There are also amazing winter paths that can be explored.

If you have any unrecognized sledding hill, please let me know so I can add them to my list. I always struggled to get all my kids, "sledding ready". There was always someone who had a glove missing or boots that did not fit. I dreaded sledding season. But once I got out there, I always loved it. It is one of our greatest memories. So get out there and go enjoy the snow!
