Blue Demons Charity Baseball Game To Help Oak Forest Family

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the family of Jeanne Ostrowski, whose 2 sons will be playing in the game.

OAK FOREST, IL — Two Oak Forest Blue Demons baseball squads will be playing a special charity game to help raise money for the family of two players whose mother is battling stage 3 ovarian cancer. The third annual Blue Demons for a Cause game between 14U Team Yerkes and 15U Team Zielinski will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Standard Bank Stadium, 14011 Kenton Ave., Crestwood. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

Although admission to the game is free, donations will be accepted. Limited concessions — including pizza, drinks, candy and other items — will be sold at the game, and split the pot raffles will be held.

All proceeds raised at the game will go to help the family of Jeanne Ostrowski, whose diagnosis of ovarian cancer in October was followed by major abdominal surgery and chemotherapy treatments. Ostrowski has two sons — Jacob and Jason — playing on the 14U team. Ostrowski is a Mother McAuley High School graduate, and she attends St. Damian Catholic Church.

A GoFundMe campaign was started for the family by Ostrowski's sister in March. Ostrowski's diagnosis, surgery and treatment have meant she could no longer work either of her two jobs, and it's unclear when she might be able to return to work. So far, the fundraising campaign, which has a goal of $50,000, has raised more than $19,000.
