Bremen High School Student Fatally Struck by Car

Mark Gorman was a senior at the school.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — A Bremen High School student died after being struck by a car Thursday evening in Midlothian, family told Patch.

Mark Gorman, a senior at the school, was hit around 9 p.m. near 147th Street and Karlov Avenue. Mark was a multi-sport athlete and excelled in cross country, track, football, and wrestling.

"He was a kind soul who always had good words for his teammates," said family friend Bill Griffin.

Sibling Jake Gorman called Mark a remarkable young man who made a positive impact on all those he knew.

"He always wanted to serve his country, and being that he's an organ donor he will save lives," Gorman told Patch.

"I hear of him as the man that every teacher adored, and who was loved by every student—that he touched their lives in one way or another."

A GoFundMe has been started to support the family.

Grief counseling services are in place for students at the school, said Principal Dr. David Kibelkis.

"Mark was known by many, because he was involved in many activities," Kibelkis said, noting Mark's contribution to school plays, sports, and other extracurriculars. "We’re all grieving, trying to work through it.

"Our thoughts go out to his mom and family."
