OAK FOREST, IL — It appears someone may have misplaced the ingredients for a breakfast sandwich in Oak Forest Monday night.

A resident was caught by surprise when walking to her car Tuesday morning. A square, golden piece of American cheese was stuck to her door. Like many other people would, the woman asked residents on Facebook if they were also “cheesed.”

"Anyone else get 'cheesed' last night," she said. "I guess I can be thankful it wasn’t [an] egg. But whoever has the eggs, I have the cheese = we can do breakfast."

Almost instantly, responses from neighbors began to flood in. One user said the same thing had happened to her. Another said they were "egged." One woman said her sister was pelted with four eggs while leaving her car.

Apparently this isn't the first time someone has gone around throwing cheese at cars in town. Another user commented the same thing happened to him a week prior, and he wondered if it was a trend.

The woman who shared the post spoke to Patch but asked not to be named. She said she laughed it off.

"Of course at first I was annoyed, it doesn’t just peel off," She said. "It was melted on ... but at least it isn’t eggs!"

Oak Forest Police Chief Jason Reid told Patch that the department has not received widespread calls about the flying cheese.

"In cases such as this, the typical remedy/charge if a suspect is located would be a local ordinance citation (fine or community service would be the penalty for those citations)," Reid said over email.

The chief went on to say, "In cases where a vehicle or home suffers damage, a suspect may be arrested for criminal damage to property."

Although some may say there are "grater" issues at hand in town, until the cheese-throwing bandit is found, perhaps a breakfast outing for Oak Forest residents who were chosen as targets may be arranged.
