Chicago Could See its First Freeze Friday Night
Temps could fall, plants might die, and it could be the earliest date since 1995 that we've seen temps below freezing.

The Chicago area is expected to see its first freeze Friday night, with a warning set to go into effect at 11 p.m.
Clear skies and light to calm winds will allow temperatures to drop into the 30s tonight, bottoming over overnight in the mid-20s in outlying areas and 30 degrees elsewhere. Closer to Lake Michigan, temperatures will remain several degrees warmer, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning means sub-freezing temperatures are possible and could kill crops and sensitive vegetation. If the forecasts prove accurate, it will be the earliest that the Chicago area has seen temperatures fall below 32 since the record of Sept. 22, 1995. The latest occurrence on record is Nov. 24, 1931.
