Dean of SSC, Dr. Anna Helwig Honored by Bremen District 228

Bremen District 228 presented the Board Recognition Award to Dr. Anna Helwig from South Suburban College for contributions to the district.

Dr. Anna Helwig was honored at the January Board Meeting where she was presented with the Board Recognition Award. She was chosen for the many contributions she has provided to the district. According to the district, she has been critical in providing many opportunities for District 228 students. She has involved herself in activities which include STEM Day, Manufacturing Day, the Robotics Olympics and Dual Credit opportunities.

She has also helped in other ways such as donating a 3-D printer to the IT staff and trained the Industrial tech teachers on programs using the Maker Lab. She is the lead contact for their Alternative Education Programs and assisted in creating college classes for the DELTA students.

Dr. Anna Helwig is the Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics departments at South Suburban College. She has her B.S. in Chemistry from Illinois Benedictine College and her Ph.D., in Analytical chemistry from University of Iowa.

The district noted that they are incredibly thankful for all she has done and continues to do to make a difference for their students. Thank you Dr. Anna Helwig for all you do for our kids.
