Forest In Bloom Awards 2018: Nearly 150 Homes, Businesses Honored

OAK FOREST, IL — Kingsberry Restaurant, CNB Bank Plaza and the Oak Forest Park District's offices were one of the nearly 150 businesses and homes to earn a Forest In Bloom Award this year. Handed out annually by the City of Oak Forest Streetscape Commission, the honor recognizes properties around the community whose owners make an extra effort when it comes to landscaping.

To be considered for the award, a home or business must be nominated and then evaluated by a seven-judge panel, which changes annually. Judges represent each of Oak Forest's wards, but no judge assesses sites in the area of the city they live in.

Award-winning properties must receive a total of 25 points in the following categories:

• visual appeal of the front yard landscaping
• maintenance of lawn, bushes, shrubs, and flower beds
• use of accessories, such as gazing balls, fountains and statues.
