The annual Oak Forest High School Madrigal Dinner & Show is going to be held on Saturday Dec. 8th and Sunday, Dec. 9th of this year and if you have never attended, I highly recommend that you give it a try.
A Madrigal Dinner is a form of dinner theater taking its form from the quintessential renaissance times of gatherings where songs were enjoyed by monarchy as well as commoners. It can be traced back to Italy during the 1520's and it was the most important secular form of music of it's time. This style of dinner theater is generally comedic in nature with songs performed through out the family style dinner for the audience to enjoy.

The Oak Forest Madrigal has kept the charm and choral music in its take on the renaissance dinner with a regal cast of the King and Queen and their closet monarchy seated at the head table. The regal participants take part in singing festive songs for the holiday season. There is a variety of entertainment for the audience including a jester, songs from the ladies in waiting and various other entertaining skits.
The meal consisting of 3 courses is broken up by music and celebration and you will leave with a full tummy. The cast comes out during the dinner and mingles with the "commoners" namely the audience which creates a atmosphere of fun and holiday cheer.

The singing and songs performed by the Madrigal Cast which consists of Oak Forest High School students, is truly wonderful. The cast practices for this show for approximately 4 months beginning at the start of the school year which is led by Mr. Victor Pazik, the Oak Forest Choir Director. You will forget that these are high school students. This year the coveted part of King went to Griffin Boger and the regal Queen will be played by Kinsey Carrera .
All of the songs are accompanied by the brass section of the Oak Forest Band led by Mr. Nicholas Rojek, the Oak Forest Band Director. They are utterly amazing and they also practice for months to get the music just right. These high school kids are just fabulous. The music is always absolutely wonderful and will make you tear up during a few of the best holiday songs.

The Madrigal is the choir's biggest fund raiser and all of the net proceeds goes to support the amazing choir program at Oak Forest High School. Tickets are $25 a person and you will receive not only a 3 course meal, but an amazing holiday show. The show is held at the Oak Forest High School and remember tickets are not sold at the door, you must pre-purchase them. Don't wait until the last minute because it is not uncommon for a show to sell out. This is a great holiday show and I promise, you won't be disappointed.
