'I Changed Your Pampers', Woman Says After She Sees Gun in Boy's Hand

The gun, which she later saw was a toy, prompted a tongue lashing. She was unimpressed with his bravado.

HARVEY, IL — A woman's video of herself taking a gun from the hands of a child is spreading quickly on Facebook.

Stacie Davis was driving along 154th Street in south suburban Harvey when she saw two "little boys creeping from the side of a building, one on each side."

She then watched in her rearview mirror as one stuffed what appeared to be a gun in his shorts. She doubled back, then went into full "mom-mode."

"What're you doing? This is how kids get shot," Davis tells the boy in the video. "Do you understand? I know you. You tell your mama—I'm Stacie. I changed your Pampers.

"I just saw you walking with this damn gun down the street, this is how kids get shot. Why you walking with this?"

The boy protested, saying the gun belonged to his friend, and he's trying to return the weapon to him.

"Not today, he don't need it either."

Davis said she did not know the moment she saw the gun, but upon taking it from the child, discovered it was fake. Still, she was unrelenting in her effort to discipline the boy, who seemed unaware that it was not real. Harvey has one of the highest crime rates in Illinois, with many shootings. The boy's fate could have been drastically different, had a police officer spotted the gun. Other newsworthy incidents involving a fake gun include the shooting of Tamir Rice in Cleveland, November 2014. Rice was fatally shot by police while reportedly reaching for what resulted to be a fake pistol from his waistband.

Davis then shared the video on Facebook, as a cautionary tale to youngsters and their parents who own real guns. The woman in the car with Davis noted how angry the boy seemed.

"I don't give a damn if he mad," Davis said. "That's how kids get shot."
