Infiniti Owner Carjacked At Gas Pump On Cicero Avenue: Police

Midlothian police said the vehicle owner was pistol whipped by an armed robber at Thornton gas station.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — A masked robber stole a vehicle after pistol whipping the vehicle owner and stealing their car at a Midlothian gas station Sunday afternoon, police said.

Around 2 p.m., the vehicle owner was pumping gas at Thornton’s, 14805 S. Cicero Ave., Midlothian. The suspect took the blue Infiniti FX35 by force and smacked the owner with the gun. The vehicle had Wisconsin dealer plates.

"The surrounding areas of Cook County have seen a substantial increase in vehicle hijackings. The Midlothian Police Department entered into a multi-jurisdictional task force to address the risein carjackings in early 2020,” Chief Daniel Delaney said in a Facebook post. “We will continue to do our best to ensure the safety of our community. If anyone feels they are being followed, we ask they don't go directly to their home or stop. Continue on and contact 911 if the vehicle continues to follow. Be aware of your surroundings while getting gas or getting out of your vehicle. If any suspicious behavior is seen, please contact 911.”
