Join Oak Forest Park District Saying Goodbye to the Tichan House

As Oak Forest Park District prepares to build a new community center, an open house is scheduled for the Tichan House before demolition.

The Tichan House has sat on the Oak Forest Park District grounds since in inception 50 years ago. It was actually built in 1943 and was an actual house belonging to the Tichan family. The house has been part of the park housing activities for years. It has served as the location for C.O.U.R.T., hosted many classes and has been a meet up spot for sports teams for years.

The Tichan House is scheduled to be demolished to make room for a new community center. Before the demolition, the Oak Forest Park District wants to give residents to ability to say good bye. "We realized that residents might be nostalgic about the house and we wanted to give them a chance to say good bye," commented Cindy Grannan who is the director of the OFPD and herself, has grown up in Oak Forest.

The official open house will take place on January 30th, 31st and February 1st. The public is welcome to come and tour the house, take pictures and say their good byes. It is always sad to see a long time addition to a community being replaced by something new but the new community center will be a welcomed addition to the park with the ability to hold a variety of new activities and event. The new community center will also be available for rent to the public.
