Man Charged in Attack of Oak Forest Woman at Knifepoint: Police

The man fled the scene and hid in a garage after the attempted armed robbery, but police found him.

OAK FOREST, IL — A Country Club Hills man faces several charges after he threatened an Oak Forest woman with a knife during an attempted armed robbery last week, the second of his attempts at a similar crime.

Kevin R. Muhammad, 18, of 4901 Hollywood in Country Club Hills, was found hiding in a garage after fleeing the scene where police say he attacked an 39-year-old woman with a knife on Aug. 11. The incident occurred in the 16400 block of Blair Lane. Police surrounded the area in their search for Muhammad, and later arrested him in the 16500 block of Barton Lane. He was later charged with attempted armed robbery, aggravated unlawful restraint, and criminal trespass to property.

Police say Muhummad also confessed to several other recent crimes in the Fieldcrest subdivision, including an earlier armed robbery attempt. The Aug. 1 incident occurred in the 16500 block of Barton Lane. He was charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated unlawful restraint.

He was also charged with criminal trespass to property for a crime that occurred in the 4400 block of Lisa Lane on July 31.

The victim in the Aug. 11 attempt suffered an injury to her left hand. Both victims were able to fend off their attacker.
