Matteson Man Killed in Head-on I-57 Crash

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL — A Matteson man was killed Monday night in a head-on crash on Interstate 57 near south suburban Country Club Hills.

John Richardson, 68, of the 5300 block of Drake Lane, was driving south on I-57 around 8:15 p.m. when he crossed the center median and hit a northbound vehicle head-on, ABC-7 reports.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m., according to the report.

Two people in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash and were taken to South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. A van that was also northbound swerved to avoid the crash, but sideswiped it. No one in the van was injured, ABC7 reports.
