Midlothian Drivers Facility Closed: Employee COVID-19 Positive

The facility will remain closed until April 20.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — The Illinois Secretary of State’s Driver Services facility in Midlothian is closed until April 20, after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the facility.

Employees must quarantine for 14 days while the location is cleaned and sanitized, according to CBS Chicago. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White tells the public that driver's license and ID card expiration dates have been extended to Aug 1, with many services available online.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security pushed back REAL ID deadline one year, slated to be Oct. 1, 2021. All current Illinois driver's licenses or ID cards are still accepted at airports, military bases and secure federal facilities until Oct. 1, 2021.
